Action Jackson!

Today we started our first famous artist unit. We checked out some great books at the library including one about Jackson Pollock. We learned that Jackson's style is known as abstract expressionism, although her preferred to call it action painting. Many people came to call him "Action Jackson" for the way he threw paints all over his huge canvasses.

Each of us chose 5 colors of puff paint and tried our own action paintings! The kids really got into it. Afterwards, Mechel said, "I really felt good doing that!"

Summer School is Here!

Summer vacation has started, and the kids and I started summer school. We set up our playroom with all of our supplies and each of us has our own work table.

Each morning the kids take out their work plan, and get started. So far we have gotten off to a great start! Here is a picture of Baila painting at the easle.
